Why export sites need multiple languages
Customers prefer product information in a language they read comfortably. A page that only exists in Chinese or English loses buyers in other markets and is less likely to surface in local search.
Multilingual does not mean machine-translating one page under one URL. Each language should have its own URL, title and description, and the pages should tell search engines how they relate.
What CloudSite supports
Each site can have up to four languages. Every language gets its own page and language switcher, and pages carry hreflang tags so search engines and AI can understand the relationship between versions.
Generate the primary language first, translate with AI, then adjust local phrasing, currency and contact details in chat.
- Up to four languages per site
- Separate page and switcher for each language
- hreflang tags added automatically
- Upload a template first and add languages afterwards
What separate pages and hreflang do
hreflang tells search engines that a page is the same content in another language. It reduces competition between language versions and sends users to the right one.
If every language sits under one URL, or a front-end switcher changes text without changing the address, search engines cannot index the versions separately and AI cannot tell which one to cite.
Planning the site structure
- One brand, many markets: one primary domain with language or region directories and shared brand assets.
- Many brands, many markets: independent sites and domains per brand with separate content, clients and contacts.
- Test networks: a small set of sites to test angles, keeping what works and retiring what does not.
- Whatever the structure, never publish identical body copy across multiple sites.
Where machine translation stops
AI translation produces a readable first draft, but product names, industry terms, sizing, currency and compliance wording still need a human check. For professional buyers, have someone fluent in the local language review the page.
Localization also covers contact details, business hours, payment methods and shipping notes. Translating only the body while leaving those untouched still feels foreign to the buyer.
Publishing and domain strategy
Multilingual sites can share one domain with language directories, or use separate domains per market. One domain concentrates authority; separate domains suit distinct brands or legal entities.
With separate domains, set canonical and hreflang correctly so the same language never competes across several addresses.
